Obituary: Barbara Miller Garnett

Barbara Miller Garnett

In the early morning hours, Barbara Garnett departed this world to attend her father’s birthday party with Jesus.

She was born January 3, 1940 to Kathryn and Lawrence Miller in Okemah, Oklahoma.  When Barbara was thirteen they moved to Tioga, ND where she graduated from Tioga High School in 1958. She married Robert T. Moore, in August 1960.  Barb and Bob had two children, Bobby and Serrena.  Barb was a teller at The Bank of Tioga for several years until they moved to Bowman, ND and then later they moved to Douglas, WY.  She worked as a teller in both towns.  While in Bowman Barbara and Bob hosted an exchange student Raija Savolainen and they made her an instant part of their family.

Following the Oil Field work, Bob and Barbara eventually moved to Billings, MT where her outgoing and spirited personality owned and operated a Spring Crest Drapery store.

It was in Billings, MT that Barbara met and married Phill Garnett and had the pleasure of adding two step-children, Loren and Meagan Garnett, to her family.  Barbara loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Barb loved Jesus, arts, crafts, music, dancing and antiques.  She eventually got her dream business in March of 2003 and opened an antique shop where she enjoyed selling and telling about the antiques.  She loved hearing the stories people would tell about the pieces she would purchase.  Barb could always be found at a garage sale seeking her next treasure and story.

Barb was a member of Grace Bible Church of Laurel and a member of the Billings Gem and Mineral Club. She enjoyed crafts and took up jewelry making to join Phill in his rockhounding hobby.

Her parents, Kathryn and Lawrence “Bud” Miller; her brother, Gary Lynn Miller; and husband, Phill Garnett preceded her in death.   Barb’s surviving family are her children Bobby Moore(Shar) and Serrena Westerfield(Eric); step-daughter, Meagan Malchow(Wade); step-son, Loren Garnett(Marlo); Grand Children, Sierra Owen(Westerfield), Lisa Westerfield, Shelley Tromburg, Brad Tromburg, and Austin Moore; two step-grandchildren, Brianne Malchow, and James Malchow; and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be at 1 pm on April 21st, at Freedom Church, 9602 N. 177th E. Ave, Owasso, Oklahoma.  There will be an open viewing on April 20 at Schaudt’s Funeral Service, 5757 S. Memorial Drive, Tulsa Oklahoma from 9:00am – 5:00pm.
